After Balaklava and Sapun Gor we drove towards Sevastopol. We made some wrong turns but finally managed to find a parking space down by the seaside. Then followed the usual (when I'm not alone) hourlong search for a place to have dinner. Cafes, hotels, bars and whatnot were inspected and discarded. We finally settled for a nice-looking restaurant just up the street, but we then had to wait a full fuckin 50 minutes before the food arrived. This incident may have clouded my memory of Sevastopol, but the city itself seemed rather anonymous and bland. I didn't see any of the numerous war monuments nor the Black Sea fleet itself while I was there so maybe I just missed out.
The girls goofing around some innocent statue.
Some big ass monument down by the harbour.
A cathedral out by Khersones, the ancient Greek ruins. This is said to be the place where king Vladimir was baptised in 988, marking the beginnings of Christian Russia.
Ruins.
More ruins.
All Sevastopol pics here.
