Simferopol, here I come

Soooooo... bored and with a credit card I sit here. Get to talking to a journalist friend of mine who's currently traveling in Ukraine. Talk about the good food and low prices. She mentions how purdy it is in Crimea. I mention I've been wanting to go.

Long story short, I have booked a flight with Wizzair between Kiev and Simferopol (the capital of Crimea) for October 2, coming back October 9 for the tiny cost of $100. The tickets between Oslo and Kiev (Oct 1 / Oct 10) on the other hand were more expensive... though still just $400.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Missing America

Sometimes I miss the US so much it hurts. I can sit at work and look out the window and suddenly I see a car going by, or I see the flags at a shop across the road, or I walk out to my car after a rainfall and smell the rain on the breeze... and in a flash I'm transported. All kinds of little stuff remind me of America. Sigh.

Now, I've got a purdy good summer ahead of me, I ain't complaining. Two weeks in Italy and four weeks in France is a good, long holiday and it's made even better by the fact that I'm getting visitors from the US (and other places). But even though I am already bouncing with excitement and wanderlust for Europe, I still feel a pining for the wide open spaces of the American West. The deserts of Utah and Arizona... the mountains of California and Wyoming... the woods of Washington and the dunes of Oregon... ahhhhh.

I yearn for these things; so much so that is hurts physically not to see them. Then I open my image directory and start browsing the pics I took last year, or even go to youtube to look up some of the better places. A couple of days ago I spent some happy hours just browsing videos of drives along American Interstates... not sure if that's nerdy or just sad...

Next year I am definitely going back to the US, and I'm 99% sure I'm going to the west coast. There are so many things I want to see again and so many new things I want to experience too. I can hardly wait for ticket sales to open sometime in the fall.

So... this is my dream till then: My own sweet self, a car, good music on the radio... and the open road, stretching for endless miles ahead of me. America, I'm coming home.

Kill kill kill

Today I was subjected to a half hour "concert" by a Norwegian "musician" at work. Our pupils had actually won a national contest (best at ignoring teachers' orders or something like that) and their prize was 30 minutes of howling and inaudible rubbish from a pair of Norwegian "rappers". The organization behind this was the fuckin Red Cross and they're never getting another cent from me again.

Those who know me will also know that I hate rap and rappers with a burning passion, it's the kind of hatred I normally reserve for people like Hitler and Stalin (say what you will, a man who kills 20 million peasants can't be ALL bad). The noise was almost unbearable as this fucker and his companions were holding court right outside the outer wall next to where we have our working spaces (I refuse to call our laughable workplaces "offices"). The walls shook and I could feel a throbbing bass banging away at the back of my head. Fortunately the bastards stopped before I received any permanent damage.

All I can say is, next year I'm gonna do my utmost to ensure that our school doesn't win a single thing if it involves another visit by so-called musicians who think their trade is improved by yelling the words, jumping around uncontrollably and generally acting like fuckin morons onstage. HATE!

Numbers

It's been a long, hard road... but I'm finally where I was before I left for London just before Christmas, when I pretty much blew everything I'd been working for the whole fall in one gargantuan week of stuffing face.

This morning I weighed in at 115.3 kilograms. I've been losing weight steadily the past couple of weeks and I think I have the right combination of eating and working out now. It's amazing what a little, relatively light weightlifting will do for your digestion, it burns calories like nobody's business.

Goodbye, Fuckbook

Facebook pulled the plug on my account yesterday, after my artwork "Muhammed The Ass Fucked Prophet" was autopublished from this blog. The account was reinstated today, but the link to my drawing was gone.

This is but the shadow of things to come. Islamofascists are overwhelming our borders, but they have long ago overwhelmed our sense of freedom and rationality. Now, even cyberspace has freedom of expression no more.

I feel little sense of loss over the Facebook page itself. Facebook is at best a timewasting trifle, something to spend time on between classes or when bored. But the PRINCIPLE of the thing is what matters; that I should be allowed to post images critical of Islam. This proved too much for the cowardly fucks at Facebook.

Now, as a believer in free enterprise, I wholeheartedly defend Facebook's RIGHT to deem my post unacceptable and to pretty much do whatever the fuck they want with their own pages, they OWN the thing, after all. In the same way I retain MY right to vehemently disagree with them and to call them a bunch of cowering, sniveling, brainless fucktards bowing to an even worse rabble of violent, freedomhating criminals called islamists and their criminally stupid, politically correct allies.

A bunch of you convinced (read: bullied) me into starting a Facebook account back in January. I've now seen the true face of the cunts running the place, and I gladly take my leave of the bastards. But the struggle for our liberties continues. If you believe in true freedom of expression - not just in saying the safe, conformist crap, or in posting your various mafia war idiocies or who gave you a cybergift and whoop-de-fuckin-doo... you will pause and consider this. The fuckers came for me because of a DRAWING. How long before they censor something YOU care about?

Invitation

Today I received an invitation to one of the social highlights of the year - the annual 4th of July celebration at the US ambassador's residence in Oslo. As always, this "official" celebration will take place in late June; on the 24th to be precise. Which means I'll have to postpone my departure for sweet, sweet Italy untill Thursday afternoon. I had hoped to get out of Norway as early as possible, but the US Embassy takes precedence.

I am Lars Vilks

Lars Vilks, a Swedish artist who has been living under police protection ever since he made a drawing of the "prophet" Muhammed as a dog in 2007, was attacked during a free speech seminar today. Vilks was giving a speech at the university in the Swedish town of Uppsala.

The point of his speech was to show art that had provoked various religions over the years, and he started out with more famous examples, like "Piss Christ", before moving on to an "art" piece called "Allah ho gay bar". That's when several members of the audience rose from their seats and advanced towards him. One man reportedly gave him a headbutt, and his glasses were broken. The police had to use pepper spray and some were arrested.

You can see the video of what happened here, notice how a woman is shrilling "Allah u Akhbar" throughout (Allah is great):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdyKmzEdHws

This should of course be totally unacceptable in a civilized country in 2010. The fuckin animals who attacked Mr Vilks should be rounded up and sent out of the country asap, on penalty of being shot in the head if they ever set foot in Sweden again. But almost as bad are the cowardly fucks of the media, who refuse to show the video, and even digitally blur pictures of the attackers and FAIL TO MENTION THAT THEY WERE MUSLIMS, like this asshole in the Norwegian daily Dagbladet. These lowlife scumbags are terrified of showing people the truth about islamist animals, because their politically correct world would come crumbling down around them if they did. (NTB, the Norwegian press agency also ignores the ethnic background of the violent mob.)

I have no idea what kind of art Lars Vilks produces normally, he may be a genius or he may be worthless. But in a free society he must be allowed to produce whatever art he damn well pleases. So in addition to being Kurt Westergaard, I am now also Lars Vilks.

Uhm.

The UK parliamentary election is held today, so I thought I'd try an automated test to see where I would end up. I consider myself a conservative libertarian, who would vote Conservative in most UK constituencies. Imagine my surprise when I tried the Telegraph's test and came out with this result:

UKIP 66%
BNP 58%
Labour 49%
Conservative 42%
LibDem 28%
Green 21%

There has to be something seriously wrong when a party containing fascist, anti-semite scum like the BNP comes in 2nd and Labour beats out the Tories... (whether that wrong is with ME or the Telegraph's test is another matter).

Busy weekend

Yesterday I came out of my self-imposed provincial exile and went to Oslo to "party" with friends, most of them journalists (yes, who knew?). We talked and laughed for several hours, and the mood was only slightly dampened by the fact that a journalist accidentally managed to spill the better part of a glass of beer in my lap. This is quite common actually, and I'll leave it to you to ponder the irony of why I, as a teetotaller, usually leave the party as the guy most reeking of alcohol.

I also learned that a story that I had tipped one of them about, was the third most read story of its kind online - a story about Centralia, PA, a city which has been sitting above a coal fire for years. The fire is expected to least appx 250 more years. Anyway, a feather in the cap of yours truly.

Tonight I'm driving down south to attend a combined birthday & moving in party for an old friend (literally, she just turned 30, muahahahahahaha) of mine who I traveled in Italy with during the summer of 2005. Wheeee!
