Quote of the Day

According to The Telegraph, the current Labour administration is planning a move to abolish the House of Lords and replace it with a wholly elected second chamber. About fuckin' time is all I can say. The UK is the only democracy left in the world where one half of its legislature is composed of a mixture of the bastard sons of previous kings (hereditary peers) and psychofants of the current prime minister (life peers). Kick 'em out and let the people decide, for better or for worse. Which brings me to the quote for today, which I thought was an unusually appropriate one:

"The House of Lords is a model of how to care for the elderly."
- Frank Field
