Underground Atlanta is a shopping area below street level. The area was used for storage and such when the building of city viaducts necessitated a move one level up in the 1920s, but it has now been restored, if not to its former glory, then at least to a commercial center with all that implies.
All pics here.
Nice old cars.
One part of Underground Atlanta was known as "Humbug", because of all the con men, peddlers, travelers, etc that used to hang out there. One popular form of entertainment was tame bears.
Delicious and refreshing indeed. Mmmmmmm.
This is a chain called Johnny Rockets, which goes for the retro look.
My strawberry milkshake, with some gooey, yummy leftovers served in the metal shaker.
