The only thing that can get me out of the pool...

... is this little lady. When she comes calling, there's nothing to do except get out of the water in which my rotund body has been submerged for the last two hours, and then drag my lardass off to the kitchen. I've bought small sausages just for the cats, cuz I know they like 'em. Today I used the opportunity to get in some pictures too. Enjoy!

Noooooo, don't look at meeeee! I'm hideoush!

Me love you long time

I've just ended a two hour cuddling session with a little fluffball of love. I've met and petted a lot of cats, but I've never seen anyone so affectionate, so desperate for attention and human love as this little girl. When she sees me she comes running, meowing loudly. She'll roll around on the floor, try to burrow inside my feet, generally make me stumble over her every other step I take and she's frankly not that interested in food anymore. It's all about the loooove, baby.

Earlier today she was jumping between the floor and my knees, perching there like a little hawk. This evening she's been a royal pain, not just to me but also my Russian couchsurfer - every time one of us gets up to fetch something, she follows. Everytime someone goes outside she follows. And when she's not clinging to a leg or rubbing against a shoe, she's crawling on a lap or a shoulder... or indeed a computer keyboard. All the while purring and meowing and burrowing and just generally letting you know you're the nicest possible human she could find to give her love to.

The real couchsurfers

You may earlier have noticed me waxing lyrical about couchsurfing.com. Well, here are some pictures of my REAL couchsurfers... the two cutest, most adorable little kitty cats in the whole wide world. They're so affectionate and cuddly and just gibblebubbleblblblblblbl...

Already housewarm, the biggest of them sat outside waiting for me this morning, meowing loudly, demanding her breakfast of milk and sausage. She'll prowl the halls like she owned the house, including the upstairs rooms. No worries in the world.

The other one is just a tiny little furball of clingy, noisy love. She'll stand on her hind legs and attempt to plow her head through your legs or hands or just plain concrete if no human is around to give her attention.

Love me, human.

What's this, then?

I've fed this little girl a whole packet of sliced sausage, plus some hot dogs over the past 3 days.

Sometimes the floor can be a substitute for a human leg. She's taken the house more or less into her possession. I think we'll both be heartbroken when I have to leave.

Fourlegged houseguests

No, I'm not talking about the little newts that still crawl around and make funny noises, nor the cockroaches who still scuttle around from time to time. I'm talking about kitties. Purdy lil' kittikats, who ah lubs, lubs, lubs.

Yesterday the first one appeared at the end of the porch, after dark. It was rather shy and kept its distance, but when I went inside and poured a small saucer with milk it came out to drink it. The cat also ate the rolled up slice of sausage I threw its way.

Today I saw the same cat (or so I thought) and went to pour milk in the saucer again and throw it another slice of sausage. I stood back and watched it stuff its little face, happy to see a fed cat. Imagine my surprise when I saw another one, almost identical come out of the shadows. This one was smaller, and just a wee bit lighter in the face, otherwise they were almost alike. This last arrival was the one I had fed yesterday.

Later in the day I saw a third cat, a small striped one, and this evening all three came up to us when we were sitting outside, just shootin' the breeze. First it was the biggest of the two identical ones and the small striped one. They were a bit cautious at first, but when I offered them sliced sausage they soon ate from my hand. My uncle went in and fetched some of the remains of our grilled meat dinner and soon the little darlings were stuffing their little snouts with pieces of beef and chicken we tore up and handed to them.

They were not at all skinny looking, yet they were eating like they'd never tasted food before, so I'm guessing this wasn't their usual fare. The little striped one was actually hiccuping towards the end. The third one (the first I had fed) also came sneaking up, but he was much more shy than the other two and would not eat from my hand; I had to throw the pieces to him, and at first he would drag them with him some ways off to eat. He never came close enough for me to touch, while the two others were rubbing against our legs and even rolling around in the case of the striped one.

I got in some pics, and I'm pretty sure they'll be back tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Little Stripey was the smallest, but also the most sociable of the three. Here he's examining the badminton set.

The biggest of the two almost identical ones. We theorized that she may have been the mother, and the two smaller ones her kittens. She seemed quite content to lay under our chairs; this was a position she would take up several times.

This was the smaller one. I took this picture on Thursday.

Here he is again tonight. He's by far the most shy and nervous of them. He has an injury of some sort to his tail; it's bent double towards the end, giving the impression that it's shorter. I guess that may explain why he's more shy.

I had to throw him the food, which he wolfed down as fast as he could, poor little thing.

Pitouf

Just thought I'd post this pic of Pitouf, Albie's evil/lovable cat. His fur is as black as his little cat soul. One minute he'll be purring along like a little furball of love, the next he'll have his claws and teeth buried deep in your hand...

Hotel cat

This little furball is Brookie, resident cat at the Brookside Hotel. She came to the hotel about 3 years ago, as a stray and it speaks volumes about the kind-hearted people at Brookside that she's been allowed to stay. Today she's a well fed, extremely affectionate and attention seeking little missus (her favorite thing to do in the evening is to rub against the flat screen of the PC, thus obscuring the vision of the employees...) She does try to nibble on your fingers every now and then, but generally she's a purring little loveball. So cute I just had to share. Back to our regular programming tomorrow!

Ah shees you. I wantsh cheezeburgerz!

Updates? You want updates?

Here's your stinkin' update, biatches! To make a potentially long and gruesome story short: I've had troubles with the old leg for a few months. Key words are bandages, antibiotics, surgery and pain, not necessarily in that order. Anyhow, I'm doing much better now, although I spend entirely too much of my spare time sitting on my ass with my leg up on a chair. Come to think of it... apart from the chair, not much has changed.

Here are a few pics from my trip to Berlin in early April (the bad leg meant I had to skip the tank driving, and I could go on at length about how effin painful it was to limp around down there, but I'll spare you the details). Berlin is a brilliant city, and I'm definitely going back there some day, when my leg has healed.

Here, kitty, kitty

We all know that many people have more money than brains. The latest example is this Texan woman who has cloned her dead cat... to the price of $50,000!

"He is identical. I have not been able to see one difference" said the woman. Well DUH, a clone is not different from an an identical twin, biologically speaking (unless something goes wrong with the cloning process, as sometimes happen). The woman also said her dead cat "was exceptionally intelligent. He knew 11 commands." We can safely assume he was smarter than his owner - no cat would ever spend 50k on a replica of a human being.

The new kitten, needless to say, is wewy adowable.
Aw, c'mon... ya knows I lubs 'em.
