Dull Tuesday

Tuesday has been rather dull. I took one pic in Roswell, which turned out to be quite a serious town, and not at all what I had expected. I was ready to give it both barrels for milking the tourists with stupid aliens stuff, but apart from a couple of wooden cutouts and a large museum downtown (which was closed at the early hour I pulled out) there was little to see.

After driving through the horribly, horribly boring high plains of eastern New Mexico and western Texas I made a brief stop in Odessa, to check out the presidential museum there, plus a smaller replica of Stonehenge on the grounds of the local dept of the University of Texas. Nice enough, but nothing to write home about.

This was one of two small statues outside my Motel 6 in Roswell, which btw, is one of the lousiest motels I've ever had the misfortune of staying at. The internet connection was weak to non-existant and two of the three vending machines dysfunctional.

I think this pic was taken in Texas, but it's basically the same landscape as in New Mexico. It gets ooooold rather quickly.

Oil. Sweet, sweet oil.

A copy of the seal that's in the Oval Office.

A 3d puzzle of the Capitol building and in the background a bust of Andrew Jackson, who looks like something died on his head.

Oh, how true.

The Stonehenge replica. The signposting for this little attraction is poor. At the first light after the Presidential Museum, make a right and drive onto the campus of UTPB. When you come to a fork, make a right. Drive till you see the visual arts building, and you'll see Stonehenge.
