Tuesday we drove all around Lake Tahoe, which in my opinion is largely an overpriced, crowded holiday resort for assholes from Las Vegas and San Francisco. However, there a couple of genuinely nice places there. One of them is an area called Vikingsholm, which was established by a Norwegian-American named Lora Josephine Knight and built as a "Scandinavian Castle". We did not have time to go see the buildings, but we got in some good pics from several places along the way.
I'm skeptical of Emerald Bay.
Some info about Vikingsholm.
On Fannette Island, the only island in Lake Tahoe, Mrs. Knight had built a teahouse for her summer guests. It measures 16 foot by 16.
There was a lovely waterfall called Eagle Falls right above Vikingsholm.
I climbed out to the tree. Yeah, I'm a badass.
It was a long way down.
But great views of the waterfall.
