Today's been another good day. First I went out to Hack Green where they have England's only nuclear bunker that's been opened to the public after the Cold War. It was to have been one of 17 regional command centers in the case of a thermonuclear war with the subsequent fracturing of the central government and has equipment for radio broadcasts. Today it also houses other Cold War elements, such as models of nukes and stuff related to early warning detection.
All pics here.
The inside of a nuke. Kaaaaaabooooom!
A nuke in mint order. Without the uranium though.
To think that this was once the height of communications equipment...
A model of the USS Enterprise, packing more kaboom than most other military units in the world.
Some hot-looking dummies.
This machine is the actual one that Maggie Thatcher used to order a British submarine to sink an Argentinian aircraft carrier during the Falklands War. Ah, fond memories! Sweet jebus, how I hate the Argentinians - starting with Maradona.
BBC studio.
Ancient switchboard.
Rubbish! There wasn't a bikini in sight!
Nope, still nuffin'.
