The Lake District has a deserved reputation as one of the nicest areas in the UK. I took some pictures along the way today, everything from mountains (or fells as they call them here - a remnant of the Viking influence, as the Scandinavian word for mountain to this day is "fjell"), to fields and trees to coastline.
Very, very pretty throughout and if the English would just make some more places where it might be possible for a poor tourist to stop the car and take pics without risking life or limb, I would have taken more.
All pics here.
Grand old tree by the side of the road.
Autumn colors.
Cows in the field. Very pastoral.
There is something very soft about the English landscape. You can almost imagine draping yourself in it, like a blanket.
Broad valleys with fells in the distance.
So, so green.
Thick wood and bare mountain. Who could ask for more?
That woshing noise you hear is the sound of British tax money going down the drain.
