There is a lot to look at along Route 1 besides the wonderful, winding roads. Sadly, most of the way you couldn't see much of the ocean, because it was all shrouded in a white wall of fog. But where you could catch a glimpse of the water it was generally the color and texture of liquid silver. All very purdy.
All pics here.
At the point where the road emerges from the woods and meets the Pacific ocean, there is this hillside where all the trees are windswept.
Sho, sho purdy.
Liquid silver.
Anything can come out of this fog if you have the right kind of imagination.
Fog on the water.
Looking the opposite way. I have taken beautiful pictures from this place before, in November.
I call this one "The battle of the sprinklers".
My hotel room in Gualala, at the Gualala Inn. I was lucky and got the room for only $105.
